Program Description: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer



This program will enable the student to perform diagnostic medical ultrasound examinations through the acquisition of necessary medical knowledge and sonographic ultrasound scanning techniques in the specialties of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Abdomen. Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to:

1. Perform a routine diagnostic medical sonogram in OB&GYN and Abdomen.

2. Perform a complete scan protocols and routine measurements with a professional sonogram report.

3. Identify normal and abnormal imaging anatomy.

4. Use appropriately a diagnostic ultrasound machine instrumentation.

5. List the indications to perform a diagnostic medical sonogram

6. Demonstrate imaging techniques for performing OB&GYN and Abdominal sonograms.

7. Define the ethical standards for sonography and employ methods of ethical principles and standards in a daily sonography practice.

8. Prepare for the board exams to become a certified Diagnostic Medical Sonographer by The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography board. Graduates of this program may find entry-level employment as a diagnostic medical sonographer with physician’s private practice, diagnostic ultrasound center, and hospitals.
